‘DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY PROMOTION’ PROJECT WAS LAUNCHED ~ JUNE 14, 2011 PRISHTINA

On Tuesday, 14 June 2011, Swiss Cooperation Office in Kosovo and the Kosovar Civil Society Foundation officially opened the project ‘Democratic Society Promotion’

In the presence of a large number of local and international guests, the project was formally declared open by Mr. Samuel Waelty Director in Kosovo, Swiss Cooperation and Ilir Deda – Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kosovo.

The project aims to support initiatives, projects or activities arising from civil society, but also from academic institutions and professional organisations with a potential to contribute to significant changes in society at national, regional and local level. The project will cover the whole area of Kosovo, while the total amount of the project is over 1 million EUR, and covers the period 2011-2014.

The project’s main goal is to contribute towards the development of a democratic society in Kosovo through: Increasing citizen participation and improve transparency and accountability of Kosovar institutions, Improve inter-ethnic coexistence and the integration of non-majority communities in a multi-ethnic Kosovo, and advance gender equality in Kosovo.

KCSF will host information sessions about the project in all cities of Kosovo, starting on Friday (17 June), while the information about the project and application forms can be found in www.kcsfoundation.org / DSP
