The year 2011 has been declared as the European Year of Volunteering. This initiative aims to be both a celebration and a challenge.

KCSF, within the European Year of Volunteering 2011 organized a roundtable discussion on volunteering, how is it understood and recognized and what are the challenges of volunteering in Kosovo.

A fruitful discussion among volunteers, representatives of local and international organizations which operate with volunteers and others, it was emphasised that Kosovo lacks a comprehensive Law on Volunteering which should include all ages, as well as recognize the voluntary work and promote the importance and benefits from the voluntary work. The organizers appealed to all to promote and engage in voluntary work, while UNDP invited all participants to join the main activity of the International Day of Volunteerism, which will be held on 5th of December 2011 in cinema ABC.

The roundtable was followed by a photo exhibition with 26 photos presenting voluntarism in Kosovo. The exhibition will stay opened until 5th of December 2011, the International Day of Volunteerism, declared by the United Nations.
