Letter from KCSF to Prime Minister Kurti

Following the approval by the Government of Kosovo of the Draft Law for the allocation for use and exchange of municipal immovable property at its meeting on December 27, 2023, KCSF sent a letter to the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Mr. Albin Kurti, in which it expressed the disappointment both with the content of the approved draft law and with the drafting process of this draft law.

In the letter addressed to Prime Minister Kurti, KCSF informed the Prime Minister that the content of the Draft Law approved by the Government is in complete contradiction with the policy goals and directions of the Government of Kosovo in this field, defined in the Concept Document for the allocation for use and exchange of municipal immovable property, approved by the Government of Kosovo on March 8, 2023.

KCSF, together with many other civil society organizations, had actively participated in drafting of this Concept Document during 2022 and 2023, contributing to an important reform of the use of municipal properties for the public good. Unfortunately, during the subsequent drafting process of the Draft Law, civil society organizations were ignored, as were their numerous comments regarding the problematic content of the Draft Law.

KCSF, together with the other organizations involved, will engage during the parliamentary procedures to request that the content of this draft law is improved, or the same is returned to the Government for reconsideration.
